We’re throwing open our doors for a FREE Open Weekend for all the family to enjoy.

Join us for behind-the-scenes tours with our technical team, theatre workshops and fun craft activities.

A great opportunity to meet the team, hear our plans for the future and tell us your thoughts!

Drop in anytime between 12pm – 4pm each day.

Saturday Events

Movement Workshops on Stage
12pm, 2.30pm & 3.30pm
Run by Neus Cortez, a regular associate artist of Joli Vyann.
Spaces are limited and should be booked via the Box Office on the day.
Recommended Age: 8+ (and their grown-ups)

Technical Tours
12.15pm & 3pm
An opportunity to visit the control room, stage and fly floor. Not for the faint hearted!
Spaces are limited and should be booked via the Box Office on the day.
Max. 10 people per tour
Age Restriction: 10+

Theatre Taster Session
12.30pm, 3pm & 3.30pm
A great insight into our Young Theatre Royal and Winchester People’s Theatre.
Run by Andrew Loretto, Hat Fair and Engagement Director
Spaces are limited and should be booked via the Box Office on the day.
Recommended Ages:
12+ at 12.30pm & 3.30pm
5+ and their families at 3pm

Panto Sing-a-long
12.45pm
Get into the panto spirit with a traditional audience participation sing-a-long!

Actors Preparation Tour
1pm & 3pm
Run by Emma Nias, Engagement and Learning Manager
Spaces are limited and should be booked via the Box Office on the day.
Max. 15 people per tour

Sound and Lighting Display
1.45pm
Run by our Stage Technical Team

Our Chief Executive Deryck Newland discusses our forthcoming season and plans for the future.

Other Activities
Ongoing activities in the cafe and foyer areas from 12pm – 4pm

  • The Gruffalo, Stick Man and The Emperor’s New Clothes children’s craft and activities
  • Ukulele Demonstration – pick up an instrument and have a go!
  • Theatre Quiz – test your Theatre Royal Knowledge by entering our quiz. Available to pick up from Box Office
  • Feedback Zone – let us know your thoughts on the theatre and Hat Fair
  • Ask Deryck – our Chief Executive will be around to answer any questions you may have
  • Face-painting
  • Dress up and meet the panto cast to make the perfect selfie!
  • Poet’s Corner – poet Joe Riley will be creating wonderful poetry for our visitors
