This summer, Blue Apple Theatre is staging what may be the most accessible Tempest you ever see. Telling Shakespeare’s tale with clarity and simplicity, this will be the classic story of love, magic and treachery featuring fairies, beasts and gods – but, as always with Blue Apple, you should expect a twist on the traditional.

In this production Prospero, Ariel, Caliban and all the other well-known characters will be joined by even more people from the shipwreck, who history and literature have hitherto forgotten. Are they going to make a new life on this island or try to get home? If they stay then what would their new society be like?

Told using Blue Apple’s trademark wit and charm, and featuring theatre, dance, puppetry and film, this is a contemporary version of a timeless classic.

Ideal for families, students or Shakespeare aficionados; you’ll see an old tale in a new light.

Founded in 2005 and based in Winchester, Blue Apple is an ambitious theatrical company that supports performers with learning disabilities to develop and present high quality productions for the widest possible audience – performing and touring theatre, dance and film within a variety of large and small scale venues around Hampshire and the southern regions.
