Centenary Film Project
Here they are… ten completed short films created by nine Hampshire schools as part of our Centenary Celebration!
A huge thank you to Strong Island Media for working with over 200 pupils, aged 6 to 16, and helping them to create such wonderful short films.
With the generous support of Heritage Lottery Fund, Hampshire County Council and Redevco Foundation, we set out to create a living history of the theatre based on people’s personal experiences.
Young people interviewed and collected memories from those who have worked, performed and visited the theatre over the last 100 years. Then, through a series of workshops led by Strong Island Media, these memories were turned into ten short films.
The films will be premiered at the theatre’s Centenary Gala (28 September), when we will be bringing back part of the theatre’s history by recreating a Cine Variety experience. All participating schools and their teachers will also be invited to a preview of the films at the theatre, where they will be our V.I.P guests for the afternoon, with special red carpet treatment!
We hope you enjoy watching the films as much as we all enjoyed making them!
Special thanks to all the students, teachers, and schools who took part; Clere School (Yr 9 & 10), Winnall Primary School (Yr 3), St Faith’s C of E Primary School (Yr 3 & 4), St Bede C of E Primary School (Yr 2), John Keble C of E Primary School (Yr 5), Henry Beaufort School (Yr 10), Osborne School (Yr 10), Kings Worthy Primary School (Yr 4 & 5) and Westgate School (Yr 8).
