Jungle Book: Young Cast Auditions
Open call for 16-24 year olds
Join Metta Theatre in their spectacular new stage adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book using circus and street dance, set in an urban jungle of skateboarding wolves, a beat-boxing Baloo and a break-dancing Bagheera.
You could be part of a local community chorus of young people (ages 16–24) playing the wolf pack and monkeys, which will be an integral part of the full production and perform at Theatre Royal Winchester (31 May – 1 June 2016). You will take part in 4 training sessions in urban dance, hip hop and skateboarding, before performing alongside 7 of the world’s leading professional performers including stars of Zoo Nation, Britain’s Got Talent’s Diversity Troupe and Cirque du Soleil.
Metta Theatre will be holding an initial workshop on Saturday 5 March 3.30pm. This will be a chance for the company to the meet you and an opportunity for you to get a taste of the sorts of skills that you will be learning. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have any previous experience on stage – what we are looking for most is enthusiasm.
You should come to the workshop wearing comfortable clothing that you can move in (no jeans) and bring a bottle of water. You may wish to wear trainers or dance shoes if you have any, however please be aware that you may also be asked to work bare foot.
Unfortunately, it is possible that not everyone who attends this workshop will be chosen to be part of the chorus. Should you be successful, you would need to attend further workshops on the following days:
- Thursday 5 May
- Saturday 14 May
- Saturday 21 May
- Sunday 29th May
