An event for emerging authors – advice on how to write and publish your book, with a troubleshooting session to help with some of the issues facing writers seeking to get published.

How to Write Your Book
12pm – 1pm

Panel: Sam Holland, Liv Hough, Karen Hamilton in conversation with bestselling author Claire Fuller.

Keynote: An entertaining insight into how to write a novel, by four local, best selling authors – three crime fiction writers in conversation with award winning novelist, Claire Fuller.

There are many ways to write a book, and in this session three local writers, plus author and creative writing lecturer Claire Fuller, explore how each write their books, offering encouragement, helpful suggestions and inspiration to any writer, whether at the beginning of their book writing journey or well advanced on the road to publication. The panel will cover how to start, character development, getting inspiration, writer’s block amongst many topics.

You've written your book, now how do you get it published?

Katie Fulford spent her career heading various departments of HarperCollins, she is now a literary agent. With 30 years' experience at the top of the book publishing industry, she will be discussing with Dr Judith Heneghan what agents and publishers are looking for when deciding whether to publish a book, covering topics such as what literary agents do, how best to increase your chances of getting a book deal, and current trends in book publishing.

Information to help emerging authors navigate publication and what comes after.

Author Judith Heneghan will be in conversation with book publishing expert Scott Pack and Natasha Poliszczuk, journalist, editor, book reviewer and social media book influencer, to answer some of the many questions that writers and authors have about the publishing process and being a successful writer. The discussion will include what to do if you can't find an agent, how to approach self publishing, how best to promote your book in the media and social media for writers.
