About Drama & Theatre (School Years 3–6)

Imagine boldly, create together, and take the stage!

For young performers ready to bring brilliant ideas to life.

Led by professional theatre-makers, our weekly 90-minute sessions build confidence, unlock self-expression, and teach the joy of ensemble teamwork.

  • Autumn & spring terms: Collaborate with years 7–9 to co-create a brand-new play with a professional writer, culminating in a live show on the Theatre Royal Winchester stage on Friday 19 March.
  • Summer term: Create an original outdoor performance for Hat Fair, learning how to surprise and delight festival audiences in public spaces.

Term dates

  • Autumn: 24 September 2026 to 3 December 2026.
  • Spring: 7 January 2027 to 18 March 2027.
  • Summer: 22 April 2027 to 1 July 2027.

Price includes all three terms.

Financial support

We want Playmakers Youth Theatre to be accessible to all young people. Bursaries are available for families who may find the cost of taking part a barrier.

You may be eligible for support if:

  • Your household receives means-tested benefits, or your young person receives free school meals or Pupil Premium support.
  • Your family is from a sanctuary‑seeking background, (including refugees and people seeking asylum.)
  • Your family is experiencing a change in circumstances or other financial pressures.

You will not be asked to complete a formal application or provide financial evidence. Simply email our Young People’s Producer at shian@playtothecrowd.co.uk for a confidential and informal conversation. You do not need to explain your circumstances in detail. We will consider each request individually.
