About Room on the Broom

A Tall Stories production
Room on the Broom
Based on the book by Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler

Iggety ziggety zaggety zoom!

Jump on board the broom with the witch and her cat in Tall Stories’ fun-filled adaptation of Room on the Broom, the much-loved picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

The witch and her cat are travelling on their broomstick when they pick up some hitch-hikers – a friendly dog, a beautiful green bird and a frantic frog. But this broomstick’s not meant for five and – CRACK – it snaps in two... just as the hungry dragon appears!

Will there ever be room on the broom for the witch and her four passengers? Find out in the magical Olivier Award-nominated show for audiences aged 3 and up. From Tall Stories, creators of imaginative storytelling theatre, where everything is possible.

Familiarisation Session

Sun 31 Jan 12.30pm

A familiarisation session takes place one hour before a Relaxed Performance in the auditorium, with attendees seated in the first few rows. Led by our Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager, the session introduces some of the show’s visual elements, including props, set and costumes, and explains what to expect from a relaxed performance environment. With the auditorium empty and the overhead lights on, the session can help first-time theatre-goers and audience members who are neurodivergent and/or have sensory processing needs feel more prepared and comfortable before the show begins.

Relaxed Performance

Sun 31 Jan 1.30pm

These performances offer a wonderfully informal atmosphere designed for individuals, groups, and families with children on the autistic spectrum, sensory or communication disorders, learning disabilities, or anyone who simply prefers a gentler theatre environment.

  • The auditorium lighting is kept on at a low level throughout the show.
  • Sudden loud noises, sudden blackouts, and bright flashing lights are completely removed or softened.
  • There is a completely judgment-free attitude toward moving around, making noise, or stepping out to take a break in our Circle level relaxed area.

If you'd like any further information on Relaxed Performances please speak to a member of our Box Office on 01962 840 440.
