Our Cafe Bar houses Trilogy sculpture

Our recently refurbished Cafe Bar is now home to a brand-new sculpture called Trilogy.

It was created by Winchester-based artist and sculpture Nadine Collinson and includes three abstract characters, each on their own personal artistic journey.

Nadine worked on the piece with Winchester School of Art graduate and contemporary artist, Laura Day. Laura designed the lighting for Trilogy that creates shadows that ‘dance’ across the sculpture in time to music composed by Alresford-born pianist and composer, Jake Gauntlett.

Made from a transparent, flexible plastic, which allows light to pass through it to create shadows, the sculpture symbolises the three strands of work overseen by arts and education charity, Play to the Crowd – Theatre Royal Winchester; Hat Fair – the UK’s longest festival of Outdoor Arts; and the organisation’s creative learning and engagement work, Playmakers.

Trilogy is designed to intrigue and entertain visitors.

It can be viewed during the Café Bar’s opening hours, from 8am Monday to Saturday, and from 10am on Sundays.
