Play to the Crowd
This workshop will explore the process of cardboard creations, from quick prototyping to completed creations.
"Cardboard is my whole world and I would love to share it with you, over the last few years Cardboard has taken a central role in both my creative process and my end products." – Sam Wilde
Cardboard is lightweight, low-cost, and easy to source, it can be cut, folded, layered, and reinforced to create durable performance elements such as flats, masks, costume and puppets.
Its flexibility makes it ideal for quick prototyping in rehearsals, allowing designers to test and adapt ideas with minimal waste.
You can work with it on the fly, with minimal tools or equipment which are widely available and affordable making it perfect for democratising the creative process. In sustainable theatre design, cardboard encourages reuse of an often-discarded material and through builds that can be remade for future shows. Using reclaimed cardboard, water-based paints, and natural adhesives further reduces environmental impact.
We involve up to 140,000 people annually in cultural activities at the heart of the community. Find out all the ways you can become part of our family.
